UPDATE!

  • Electricity went out all over town today. I didn't like it. There was only an eerie silence and the mysterious sound of people wrapping my birthday presents from upstairs.
  • Paul keeps telling me I should go off my meds because, quote, "it'll be hilarious."
  • Homicide is on tonight! Munch is so cool.
  • My birthday tomorrow.
  • That's all. Photos later.

Random Things I Find Interesting

  • Something they say about Maris Crane and that can also be said about me - She is too light to activate a whoopie cushion.
  • Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man
  • When I was on the bus today the driver looked exactly like Nathaniel Fisher Sr. Then a guy in a car was driving towards the bus, he also looked exactly like Nathaniel Fisher Sr and was rustling around looking for something in his car. I was sure episode 1 of Six Feet Under was about to be re-enacted (with the odd exception that Nathaniel Sr would be driving the bus). It didn't happen.
  • On Friday I will turn 20 years old! I'm excited about this not because it's my birthday but because 19 sounds like an idiot's age.
  • A show called "Jade Guanyin" on Phoenix

Photo!

It's official! I do not have the ablilty to wake people up!

In my life I've only ever had to wake 2 people up.

The first was a few years ago when I had to wake Leonnie up. I wont write a whole long story so here's the basics: She did not fully wake from sleeping and stared at me in a really weird way then fell asleep. The next day she had no recollection of this! (Leonnie stopped staying over here after I told Paul what happened and many nights ensued of us having conversations with Leonnie while she was asleep but could reply to our questions).

Here's what happened a few moments ago: My dad is asleep on the couch (it's 2am), I went over to him, shook his arm and said to him "you fell asleep" (thinking he would wake up and go upstairs to bed). He did not open his eyes but replied thus: "(mumbling) hibs (mumbling). Is it yours or is it theirs? Is it yours or is it theirs?" I have no idea what he's talking about so I asked "is what mines?" He replies "Is it yours or is it theirs?" I now realize I've done to him what I did to Leonnie- hypnotized them.

As I walk away from my dad, hoping he'll fall asleep again and also holding in my laughter, he says "Is it YOURS or is it THEIRS?!" I do not reply. He pauses for a second and says "I think I'm putting too much effort into this".

My conclusion? I do not have the ability to wake people up. Or at least I can only wake them 50% of the way from sleep.

God, I love venetian blinds

I feel very 1950's right now

Feels like I should go out front, sit on the fence and wait for Fonzie to pick me up on his motorcycle. Although then I'd have to wait til the 70's. I should probably just go out and wait for James Dean to pick me up.

The Bombay Cat

I was thinking just now that I'd like to talk about this because the cat limelight is almost always stolen by the Siamese! Now for your reading pleasure is the similarities between the bombay cat and me.

  1. We both have green eyes
  2. We both like to sleep.....a lot
  3. Bombay cats prefer living indoors.....hey, me too!
  4. Loud noises make the bombay cat nervous.....I guess it's the same for me?
  5. They like to hide behind chairs, cupboards and anywhere it is difficult for a predator to gain entry......uh.....me too?
  6. Okay I seem to have lost my way with this list
Basically my point is that they are an underrated breed of cat and it frustrates me when people say "don't let a black cat cross your path, it's bad luck". I had my cat (bombay called Cassy) for more than ten years, so imagine the amount of bad luck those people are pushing on me!

This isn't my cat, it is merely an example.

The Chinese Channel

I had no idea until a few moments ago that we had a Chinese news channel! I am watching it right now and my friend is translating it even though he doesn't speak Chinese, it reminds me of the days when he used to translate "the little yellow car" for my and Leonnie's amusement while we were in the big house (I know none of you will know what that means).

A few minutes ago there was a guy telling us about the long wall of china which is different from the great wall of china because it bends slightly in the middle into an arch. If you walk underneath the arch it will grant your wishes. I am told everyone knows about it and everyone goes there.

Weird post I know.

Wow, there is a guy singing now....on the Chinese news.

Random Things I Find Interesting

  • "I passionately hate the idea of being with it; I think an artist has always to be out of step with his time." - Orson Welles
  • The 9 muses in Greek mythology. (I found out about this after watching an incredibly weird Rita Hayworth movie) They are goddesses who rule over different parts of the arts. For instance Terpsichore is the muse of dance and Calliope who is the muse of epic poetry.

Question For You All

I'm having trouble figuring out which photo looks better. Sometimes when I look at my photos for too long I stop seeing what they actually look like. So I need your help.

Look at the 2 photos below, one is black and white, one is colour. Which do you think is better?

Leave a comment and let me know.

You can just say black and white or colour or you can elaborate, it's up to you.

Comparison Photo 1 - Colour

Comparison Photo 2 - Black & White

Laura D

Paul says this looks most like me out of any pictures. I must do this face to him a lot.

Paul just gave me a prize to delete the sentence I was in the midst of writing.

Random Things I Find Interesting 4

  • Photography, ofcourse
  • How you never see Anderson Cooper laugh until he talks to Richard Quest
  • How I always have so many ideas spinning around my head for my blog then when I actually try to write something I can't think of anything!
  • Penn & Teller. My uncle gave my brother Paul and I "Penn & Teller's Cruel Tricks for Dear Friends" book when we were children. I still have it....I don't know where it is....but I know it is
  • The Joker's Masquerade website. I buy a lot of my regular day-to-day clothes on that site, yes I know it's weird, but they look a lot cooler than the kind of clothes you can get from real shops.
  • Nathan Landau (the name and the person!) in Sophie's Choice (hint, hint at my birthday present. Paul! Are you listening?!! Damn you!)

That's a James Dean calender behind me, it's on the wrong month and also the wrong year.

I need a new calender.

Penguin Biscuit Joke

I just ate a penguin biscuit and you know how they always have ridiculous jokes or facts on the back? Well here was the joke on mines:

Q. Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
A. If the flew over the boys they would be bagels

It took me 20 minutes of laughing hysterically and asking Paul "What boys?! WHAT BOYS?!" before I found out that I misread and it actually said "If they flew over bays they would be bagels".

During the 20 minutes I was trying to make sense of it by telling Paul "maybe it's intentional because I've laughed more at this joke than any other joke, so maybe that's what they're trying to do! They're trying to confuse you to make you laugh!" Paul meanwhile is asking me something about the bacon in the fridge but I can't really hear him because I'm laughing too much trying to figure out what boys they mean.

The joke makes no sense either once you read it correctly.

Laura D is back

Okay, I admit it, I haven't blogged in 2 weeks but now I am back blogging again!

Here's a photo

Another post either later today or tomorrow, who knows....
